
Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President, has applauded the effort of Super Eagles for defeating the Falcons of Sudan.
The Super Eagles had beaten Egypt 1-0 in their first Group D fixture
Nigeria defeated the Sudanese side 3-1 in their second leg encounter in the ongoing African Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Cameroon.
Goals from Samuel Chukwueze, Taiwo Awoniyi and Moses Simon gave the three-time champions a three-goal lead against Sudanese.
Atiku took to his Twitter page, describing Nigeria’s win as a gift to the remembrance of gallant armed forces.
His tweet read,
“Textbook victory over Sudan. Well done, Super Eagles, @NGSuperEagles
“An excellent result to celebrate as a country, and also a gift to the remembrance of our gallant armed forces.”
Nigeria are through to the knockout stages of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, following their recent win.
