Newly appointed Barcelona manager, Xavi Hernandez, has told the his club to consider re-signing Liverpool midfielder, Thiago Alcantara for the Camp Nou landlords,” according to Sports.
Thiago, a Barca youth team product, was once tipped to be Xavi’s long-term replacement at the heart of the club’s midfield.
But he left the club and Bayern Munich where he won major honours during his seven years before joining Liverpool last summer.
The Spanish sports outlet reports that Xavi, who was appointed Barca coach last week, is now keen on bringing him back.
Xavi has already brought back veteran defender, Danny Alves to Camp Nou and has already discussed the plan to bring back Thiago with Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
Thiago is said to be very much interested in going back to Barcelona, his boyhood club.
Xavi is also keen on strengthening the club’s attacking options with Manchester City forward, Raheem Sterling, who is valued for £45m.
Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech are all options for Barca when the January transfer window opens.
