Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau, has condemned the kidnap of former Minister of Sports and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Damishi Sango, describing it as an act of inhumanity.
reports that the ex-minister was kidnapped on Wednesday by unknown gunmen alongside his son, driver and a prominent chieftain of the PDP in Plateau State while on his way to Abuja for the PDP convention scheduled for December 9.
Mr. Lalong, in a statement signed by his Director of Press, Emmanuel Nanle, on Friday said the Plateau and Kaduna State Governments were working with security operatives to secure the safe release of the Plateau PDP Chairman.
“I received with deep concern the news of the abduction of Hon. Damishi T. Sango, Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, Plateau State and four others at Jere, Kaduna State on their way to Abuja.
“To say the least I am most saddened by this act of inhumanity to man that must be condemned totally.
“The Federal and the state governments are taking steps to ensure that the Plateau-Kaduna and Kaduna-Abuja routes are secured from armed robbers and kidnappers.” he said
The abductors of Damishi Sango, have reportedly demanded a ransom of N100 million for his release.
