Liverpool’s Klopp Urges Reds To ‘Stay Cool’ After Watford Rout

Jurgen Klopp has urged Liverpool to “stay cool” after they moved to the top of the Premier League in style with a 6-1 victory over Watford at Anfield on Sunday.
The Reds headed into the contest knowing a win would take them to the summit after Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw by Tottenham earlier in the day.
Sadio Mane broke the deadlock in the 27th minute with a glancing header from Philippe Coutinho’s cross after a spell of relentless pressure from Klopp’s side.
Liverpool then kicked on as Coutinho doubled the advantage with a wonderful strike four minutes later and Emre Can headed in to put the game beyond doubt just before half-time.
Roberto Firmino and Mane then netted within quick succession after the break. Daryl Janmaat grabbed a consolation goal before Georginio Wijnaldum scored his first goal for Liverpool.
“If somebody thinks being one point ahead after 11 matchdays is a big sign for the rest of the season then I can’t help this person — sorry,” Klopp told a news conference. “We stay cool, nothing happens.

“It’s the best position I can imagine actually. Really nothing else happened and we did not speak one word before the game — we knew that Arsenal drew against Tottenham — about the possibility of being top of the table.
“The only thing you can do is to work and stay concentrated. There are a lot of different things that could happen in the next few weeks and months, so how positive they are is up to us.”
Klopp said he did not believe being leaders for the first time since May 2014 would create any tension for his players.
“There’s no pressure after 11 matchdays — absolutely no pressure,” he added. “We saw Chelsea playing yesterday — quite impressive. Who saw City playing Barcelona? Quite impressive. Man United — never write them off. Tottenham — good side. I’m not sure if I forgot anybody, but there’s a lot of really good teams around.
“Stay cool, take things like they are and play your best football and win football games. That’s the only thing we can do.
“We have no guarantees. The only guarantee that we obviously have is a pretty good football team. Let’s try to use it.”
