Coach Abdu Maikaba has disclosed Nigeria premier league club Akwa United will step up their pre-season training with a closed training camp in Calabar on Saturday.
“We will be in Calabar for pre-season camping from November 19,” he disclosed.
Maikaba has bagged a two-year contract with Akwa United after he guided Wikki Tourists to an historic third place this past season.
“I am working under a very accommodating atmosphere under the leadership of the chairman of the club, Paul Bassey,” he said.
“He has given me full control of all technical issues concerning the team.
“I will work with only serious players and we are almost through with our recruitment.
“I believe we will do well in the new season.”
