Barcelona suffered a 2-1 defeat in their La Liga clash at Sevilla on Saturday, their second in the league this term.
The game was off to a frenetic start as both sides created a flurry of chances in the first 20 minutes with the likes of Luis Suarez and Munir coming close to opening the scoring.
In the 23rd minute Sevilla survived a big scare. Neymar beat the goalkeeper and hit the post. The ball then rebounded off the keeper’s back and rolled along the goal line but Gerard Pique somehow couldn’t find the back of the net at the far post while under pressure from Coke.
Suarez was a handful for the home defence and again came close to scoring in the 37th minute when he cut in from the left flank and struck a curling shot that only just went over the crossbar.
It was, however, Sevilla who opened the scoring. In the 52nd minute Gameiro did wonderful work on the right flank to send a cross towards the back post where Michael Krohn-Dehli was on hand to fire home the opener.
Six minutes later the Catalans were in a world of trouble as they went two goals behind. Krohn-Dehli turned provider as he lifted a great ball towards the penalty spot where Iborra did just enough to direct it into the back of the Barca goal.
The visitors were handed a lifeline in the 73rd minute when they were awarded a penalty for a handball from Tremoulinas. Neymar stepped up and made no mistake as he buried the spot-kick. However, it was not enough as the Spanish giants slumped to defeat.
