CRUTECH Staff On an Indefinite Strike Following Non- Payment of Salaries

The staff of Cross River State University of Technology (CRUTECH) are currently on an indefinite strike following non-payment of two months salaries and other privileges.

According to Dr. Stephen Ochang, chairman of CRUTECH branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) the four industrial unions in the institution wrote to the state government demanding the payment of salaries and other outstanding allowances owed them, but that nothing was done.

He described this as insensitivity of the state government to the plight of workers.

He mentioned that their demands also include release of N500 million for upgrade of facilities and increase in monthly subvention from N169 million to N250 million.

The staff have vowed not to return to work until their demands are met.
